We are in the process of preserving USFL video. More than three-and-a-half decades have passed since the USFL last played football, and video of its games is in more danger every day of being lost or destroyed. Denver 27 at San Antonio 20

1984 Week 14 - Friday, May 25, 1984
Denver Gold(7-6) at San Antonio Gunslingers(5-8)(-4)
Attendance: 20,077

SAN ANTONIO(UPI) - Fred Mortensen hit Dave Preston on a 32-yard scoring strike with 1:52 left to enable the Denver Gold to snap a five-game losing streak with a 27-20 victory over the San Antonio Gunslingers Friday night.

Mortensen, replacing injured Craig Penrose, passed for 308 yards and two touchdowns as Denver, 8-6, held onto its lead in the Pacific Division while San Antonio fell to 5-9.

Denver had tied the score 20-20 on George Works' one-yard run, his second score of the game. The Gold took over on their own 20, and moved to the San Antonio 25 on three plays.

After Preston lost seven yards on a sweep, Mortensen hit him for the score as the fleet running back eluded Putt Choate's grasp at the 30 and raced up the left sideline.
