Michigan 7 at Tampa Bay 19

1983 Week 2 - Saturday, March 12, 1983
Attendance: 38,789

TAMPA (AP) The Panthers were expecting a passing barrage from Tampa Bays John Reaves. Instead, they ran into Greg Boone or, more properly, Boone ran through them as the Bandits ran over Michigan 19-7.

It was clear the passing game wasnt working, Boone, a rookie from Duke, said after gaining 157 yards and scoring a touchdown. I was a little nervous at firstLast week I didnt carry much. I was afraid of making mistakes. I just knuckled down and ran the ball. After a little while I felt comfortable.

The teams traded second-period touchdowns, Reaves passing 6 yards to Eric Truvillion and Bobby Hebert throwing 3 yards to Mike Cobb. The game attracted 38,789 fans compared to last Sundays 42,437 in Tampa Bay.
