TAMPA (AP)- Gary Anderson rushed for 98 yards and the Tampa Bay Bandits intercepted Cliff Stoudt three times in the third quarter, earning a playoff spot with a 17-14 triumph over the Birmingham Stallions.

Birmingham, which came in with five straight victories and a USFL-best plus 16 turnover differential. suffered 5 interceptions. The Stallions (12-5) will play in New Jersey next Sunday against the Generals (11-6) with the Eastern Conference title on the line. In breaking a four-game losing streak, the Bandits, 10-7, snapped a 7-7 halftime tie on Zenon Andrusyshyn's 34-yard field goal midway through the third quarter. Dwayne Anderson's second interception of the game off Stoudt set up Gary Anderson's 11-yard scoring run with 69 seconds remaining in the period. John Reaves flipped a 6-yard TD pass to Spencer Jackson for the Bandits in the final minute of the first half.
