Orlando 17 at Portland 23

1985 Week 4 - Saturday, March 16, 1985
Orlando Renegades(0-3) at Portland Breakers(1-2)(-17.5)
Attendance: 25,885

PORTLAND, OR (AP) - Running back Buford Jordan rambled for 175 yards and Tim Mazzetti kicked three field goals Saturday night as the Portland Breakers held on for a 23-17 victory over winless Orlando.

The Renegades nearly pulled off a miracle finish as Victor Jackson raced 71 yards on a punt return, bouncing the ball off the turf and catching it en route, before Portland's Robert Pennywell made a desperation, game-saving tackle at the Breakers' 14-yard line as the game ended.

The bruising 230-pound Jordan, who topped the 100-yardmark for the third week in a row, carried the ball 19 times and scored what proved to be the winning touchdown on a 25-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

Portland (2-2) dominated the statistics, but turnovers, including two Jordan fumbles, helped the Renegades stay close.
