WASHINGTON, DC (AP) - New Jersey extended Washington's losing streak to nine games, Herschel Walker rushed for a record 194 yards and Dave Betz hit a 50-yard field goal with no time left.

In Washington there were 11,264 fans at the game and 12,437 no-shows. New Jersey, 4-9, drove 33 yards on seven plays in 55 seconds before Betz, signed during the week, kicked his fourth field goal of the day.

Walker scored the longest touchdown run -- 83 yards -- in the USFL's brief history on the first play of the game.

Jeff Knapple of the Generals passed for his first two TDs as a pro. Mike Hohensee passed for two TDs for the Federals, 1-12.
