We are in the process of preserving USFL video. More than three-and-a-half decades have passed since the USFL last played football, and video of its games is in more danger every day of being lost or destroyed. The Invaders, who won their seventh consecutive game, led throughout the game until Michigan tied it on a spectacular touchdown pass from Whit Taylor to Derek Holloway on the Panthers first play from scrimmage in the fourth quarter.
The Invaders led 7-6 at halftime and added to their margin when quarterback Fred Besana ran a bootleg around left end for a 7 yard touchdown run with 4:17 to play in the third quarter.
Kicker Kevin Shea, who missed three field goals, including a 22-yarder, missed the extra point as Oakland's lead remained at 13-6.
