Oakland Invaders(4-9) at Oklahoma Outlaws(6-7)(-2.5)
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Kevin Shea booted a 32-yard field goal on the last play of the third quarter and the Oakland Invaders made it stand up for a 17-14 win over the skidding Oklahoma Outlaws in the United States Football League Saturday night.
It was the fifth straight victory for the 5-9 Invaders while Oklahoma dropped its sixth straight to fall to 6-8.
Oakland quarterback Fred Besana completed 18 of 25 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown in the game. In the first half, Besana hit wide receiver Gordon Banks for a 19-yard touchdown, capitalizing on an Outlaws fumble at their own 34.
The Outlaws got untracked with a second quarter, 77-yard drive culminating in quarterback Doug Williams' 9-yard touchdown pass to a George Ragsdale.
Less than two minutes later, linebacker Vic Koenning batted a Besana pass high into the air, fielded it and rambled 26 yards to put Oklahoma on top, 14-7.
